Analyst David Hughes has been speaking on the latest edition of the Royal Blue podcast about Everton transfer targets for the summer.

Do you think Everton should sign Zaha?

One player who the Toffees have been linked with is Wilfried Zaha, who has two years of his contract at Crystal Palace left and is rated at £40.5m by Transfermarkt.

The 28-year-old had a solid season for the Eagles as he scored 11 goals and provided two assists, but Hughes isn’t convinced that he would be the right signing for the Toffees.

He said: “I look at him and think, would he improve the Everton attack? Yes, but there are just too many other aspects that really put me off.

“I think he’s someone who can contribute maybe 10-15 goals a season and also be a bit of a headache for the opposition; Everton don’t really have enough of that.

“I think he’s just very close to that edge where you fall off a cliff a little bit, especially with attackers, which seems to happen a little bit earlier.”

TIF Thoughts on Zaha…

The Toffees were heavily linked with a move for Zaha in the summer of 2019, but they signed Alex Iwobi instead, who has failed to deliver enough end product.

Zaha has consistently delivered good amounts of goals and assists in the Premier League in four of the last five seasons.

So, he can do it, and though he might be reaching the peak of his career, we feel as if he would be a brilliant signing for the Toffees and could help them push on next season.

We understand why Hughes has his concerns, but Zaha in this Everton team could be the signing they need to push for the European places next year.
