In an exclusive interview with This is Futbol, former Premier League striker Dean Windass has claimed that Wilfried Zaha will have an influence on who Crystal Palace’s next manager is.

Roy Hodgson has been in charge at Selhurst Park since 2017 when he took over from Frank de Boer, but the former England manager’s contract is set to expire and the club are reportedly planning for life without him.

Should Zaha leave Crystal Palace?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Zaha has yet again been linked with a move away from Palace this summer with Arsenal also, once again, thought to have an interest in the 28-year old, whose contract expires in 2023.

Speaking on why Zaha may want to leave Palace this summer and how he will have a say on who the club’s next manager is, Windass exclusively told This is Futbol:

Zaha has been there since he was a kid but does he want another relegation battle next year? Or, does he want to be pushing for the top six or seven in the Premier League?

He’ll be another one in the changing room that will have a lot of influence on players and the chairman so he’ll [Steve Parish] be pulling him aside and saying ‘right, Roy is retiring, and this is who we are going to get, and I want you to stay so we will build the team around you’. Those sorts of conversations will be happening behind closed doors.”

Palace will have to improve in the final third next season, especially in the centre forward Department as Christian Benteke, Jordan Ayew and Michy Batshuayi have managed a total of 11 goals this campaign.

Zaha has enjoyed his most successful season in front of goal for Crystal Palace as he has found the net 10 times in 27 appearances.
