Marcus Bent has exclusively told This is Futbol that Roy Hodgson becoming director of football at the club would be a sensible move by the club.
The 73-year-old recently moved into his sixth decade in management but is out of contract as Selhurst Park this summer and yet to make a public decision about his future.
Would Gerrard be a good appointment at Crystal Palace?
Yes
No
Palace are finishing the season in poor form but are on the verge of securing their Premier League status for an eighth campaign on the bounce.
Hodgson has been quizzed on his Palace future more than once in recent months. Firstly, saying that he’s unsure whether he’ll be staying at the club next term, before commenting on the matter once again last month by hinting that a decision is close.
And Bent believes that should the former England manager decide against staying on, moving upstairs to a director of football role would benefit his replacement.
He told This is Futbol:
“It would be good to have someone like that at your club that knows the ins and outs of the game.
“The fans would still adore him and whoever takes charge might need a word in his ear and some advice.”
