Journalist Fabrizio Romano has recently provided an update about the managerial situation of Crystal Palace.

has been linked with a move to Palace and the ex-Chelsea manager has stated that he is ready to return to management.

On the next potential Palace manager, Romano spoke on the Here We Go podcast, stating that while Lampard has made contact with the Eagles, Steve Cooper at Swansea is someone whose situation is being eyed too.

Is Lampard the right candidate for Palace?





Roy Hodgson managed his last game at Selhurst Park, as his side lost 3-1 to Arsenal. His last game as Palace boss will see the Eagles take on Liverpool at Anfield.

Romano talked about the potential replacements for the Englishman and said: “Yes, he [Lampard] has had direct contact with Crystal Palace, he’s one of the options.

“It is not done, there is no agreement, but he’s one of the options for Crystal Palace after Roy Hodgson leaving Crystal Palace and football in general. Lampard is a chance for Crystal Palace. Keep an eye also on Steve Cooper, the manager of Swansea, and let’s see what Crystal Palace will decide. But yes, Frank Lampard has some opportunities and he wants to be back immediately, he wants to work.”

Palace have finished in mid-table spots for numerous years now and established themselves as a regular Premier League side.

So perhaps it is now time to push their limits and aim to get closer to the European spots. Outgoing Roma manager Paulo Fonseca was linked with the Selhurst Park job some weeks ago. The Portuguese has loads of European experience with Roma, Porto and .

On top of that, he has also won multiple trophies in his career. So if Palace want to improve their level, Fonseca might be a good candidate for them rather than a relative rookie in Lampard.
