Ian Wright has been speaking on Saturday’s edition of Match of the Day about Crystal Palace’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United as well as other games from the day.

Nice easy one to start off with, who currently sits top of the table?

One of the topics that Wright spent some time on was Christian Benteke, and he revealed that the Belgian could be leaving Palace this summer.

Benteke has scored seven league goals this season, which is more than his last three league seasons combined, and he has hinted that he could be open to leaving and while Wright was praising him, he revealed that the former Liverpool man could leave Selhurst Park.

He said: (1:01:42) “When you’ve got people like Eze, Wilfried Zaha, and Benteke in this kind of form, they’re going to cause teams problems.

(1:02:02) “People are talking about he’s in new contract mode, but the way he played today, that’s what he should be doing.

“I’m hearing that he might be going for free; there’s interest from Turkey, but if he could put a run together like this, you would probably try and keep him, but you don’t know if you’re going to get that performance out of him on a weekly basis.”

Do you think Benteke will leave in the summer?

Yes, his time has come

TIF Thoughts on Benteke…

The 30-year-old, who is valued at £8.10m by Transfermarkt, has been in the Premier League now since 2012, and overall he has scored 79 Premier League goals.

However, at Palace, he has somewhat stagnated, and it has been good to see him back in form again this season.

Given that his contract with the Eagles expires at the end of the season, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Benteke leave the club this summer, but it would be interesting to see him stay and try and get back to the goalscoring form he had while he was with Aston Villa.
