Arsenal journalist Charles Watts has been sharing his thoughts on Gunners attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his latest performance for the north London club.

This comes after Watts uploaded a video onto his YouTube channel where he spoke about a range of topics concerning Mikel Arteta’s side, including their 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Nice easy one to start off with, who currently sits top of the table?

On the subject of Aubameyang and his performance against Graham Potter’s side, Watts had this to say on the matter. (18:13)

He said: “Another disappointing performance from Aubameyang, just wasn’t really involved. It was really noticeable, he didn’t get in the box too much Aubameyang, he was drifting out so much to the left-hand side whenever balls were coming in or players were out wide, Aubameyang just wasn’t in and around the six-yard box.

“If you do that, you’re not going to get many chances, really noticeable and a little bit surprising. I don’t know if that’s just a confidence thing, as you do see with strikers, sometimes when they’re having a difficult time with things, they kind of move away from the goal a little bit, and I did notice that with Aubameyang.”

Arsenal signed Aubameyang back in the 2018 January transfer window from German club Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £56m.

Since then, the 31-year-old, who is currently valued at £31.5 million, has gone on to make 148 appearances in an Arsenal shirt across all competitions in which he has managed to score 85 goals and provide 19 assists in the process (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Charles Watts’ comments on Aubameyang…

Given how Football.London gave Aubameyang a fairly underwhelming match rating of 6/10 for his performance against Brighton and said that it was a “relatively anonymous display” from the striker, this backs up what Watts had to say about him in his video.

Do you think Arsenal should consider selling Aubameyang this summer?

With the season now over, the striker will now have to focus on getting ready for the next one and hopefully have a more consistent one than his latest one in terms of his appearances and goalscoring.
