Carlton Palmer has told This is Futbol that he believes Matheus Pereira will definitely leave West Bromwich Albion this summer.

The Brazilian attacker only made his loan deal permanent 12 months ago following the Baggies’ promotion to the Premier League, but Palmer fears that Pereira won’t want to play in the Championship following the impact he made during the 2020/21 campaign.

Do you think that Lampard would be a good choice for the West Brom job?

He’s already attracted interest from several top-flight teams, including Leeds, after scoring 11 goals and adding six assists in 33 league appearances for West Brom.

Pereira contributed to almost 50 per cent of the Baggies’ Premier League goals this season, although his heroics, including four goal contributions in a single game in the 5-2 win at Chelsea last month, couldn’t save the Midlands outfit from an immediate return to the second tier under the tutelage of Sam Allardyce.

Given his impressive form this season, West Brom will be desperate to keep their talisman and main source of goals and assists, but former Baggie Palmer doesn’t believe that’s possible.

To kick off this quiz on Matheus Pereira, from which Portuguese club did Albion sign the playmaker?

He exclusively told This is Futbol:

“He won’t be there. The top players that they brought in at Christmas, I’m sure there will have been clauses in there, but I really can’t see him wanting to play in the Championship.”
