In an exclusive interview, former West Brom midfielder Carlton Palmer has told This Is Futbol that he expects an exodus of players at his old club this summer following their relegation to the Championship.

The Baggies were condemned to English football’s second tier after a recent 3-1 loss to Arsenal, leaving the futures of various players in doubt.

The likes of Matheus Pereira and Sam Johnstone had already been linked with moves away from the Hawthorns, and Palmer is certain some of these individuals will have relegation clauses in their contracts that could help spark an exodus.

Speaking exclusively to TIF about what could be in store for the Midlands club, the former England international said:

I think West Brom, they’ve got clauses in there should they get relegated for the players. And certain players obviously who were some of the better players are not going to want to play in the Championship. They’re going to want to move on.”

Indeed, with or without a clause, it is going to be extremely difficult for West Brom to keep hold of a player like Pereira.

Despite their struggles, the Brazilian has still been able to excel, scoring in recent outings against Arsenal and Chelsea.
