Jon Newsome has told This Is Futbol that he does not expect Emiliano Buendia to leave Norwich City unless a huge club, such as Real Madrid, make a bid for him.

Buendia has enjoyed a phenomenal season in the Championship this term, as the Canaries have cruised to the title.

In 38 games in the second-tier, the Argentine has scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists, primarily playing from the right wing.

Will Buendia leave Norwich this summer?

Yes, he'll leave

Yes, he'll leave

No, he'll stay

No, he'll stay

And that form has seen him linked with a move to another Premier League club, despite Norwich winning promotion at a canter.

Aston Villa have been touted as a possible destination for Buendia, especially given the uncertainty over the future of Jack Grealish who has, himself, been linked with Manchester City.

But Newsome does not believe that Buendia, who is valued at £19.8m by Transfermarkt, would make a move to such a club.

Indeed, he thinks that if a Champions League club came in with an offer, Norwich would allow him the move, but that a switch to Villa is not the step up required for the winger.

He told TIF: “Real Madrid aren’t knocking on the door, are they? Or PSG, where you look at that and go, ‘wow, Champions League football’.

“That’s a totally different story, and I think there does come a point where clubs, and knowing Norwich City as a football club, the people there are proper, morally genuine people, there does come a time when a club says to itself ‘we can’t stand in the way of this player, the opportunity that’s been given to this player is so great, that we feel we can’t stand in his way’.

“It’s not one of those situations at the moment so I’d be surprised.”
