Jon Newsome has hailed Leeds United’s achievement of getting through April’s nightmare run of fixtures unbeaten in an exclusive interview with This Is Futbol.

The Whites played Sheffield United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United throughout the month.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men began the month with a 2-1 win over the Blades, and then beat City 2-1 in a remarkable performance that saw Stuart Dallas score a brilliant brace.

They also drew 1-1 with Liverpool and then held on to draw 0-0 with United at the end of the month.

It means they have taken eight points from a possible 12, and the results left them ninth in the Premier League table prior to the weekend’s clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Newsome believes that plenty of fans will have been nervous about the fixtures prior to the month but has been blown away by the performances of his old club.

Speaking exclusively to TIF, Newsome said: “I think when the fixtures came out, we all looked at April and went “oof”, that could be a little bit of a difficult one.

“Liverpool, Man City, Man United, and they’ve gone through April unbeaten.

“Absolutely incredible, incredible feat.”
