Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping to improve this squad this summer in a bid to push for the European places next season.
But whilst Leeds have already been linked with a host of Premier League names, Dean Windass doesn’t think that Eric Dier is a player that would interest the Argentine.
Do you think Raphinha will improve at Leeds?
Yes
No
Following a disappointing season with Tottenham, the England defender could be be on the market with Football London suggesting his future is in doubt as the north London outfit target two new centre-backs this summer.
Despite his poor form, Dier made 28 Premier League starts last season, part of his 39 appearances in all competitions, but has become renowned for making costly errors and giving away penalties rather than keeping clean sheets.
As a result, the 27-year-old wasn’t included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad despite an extra seven players being named, with the uncapped Ben White and Ben Godfrey now above Dier in the Three Lions’ pecking order.
Gaetano Berardi’s exit has been confirmed, leaving Leeds short of options at centre-back, but Windass told This is Futbol that Dier isn’t someone that would fit the bill at Elland Road:
“No disrespect, but there are better centre-halves out there, and he’s not a sitting midfielder, he’s a centre-half.
“He doesn’t look easy on the eye when he’s running and Bielsa is 90 percent based on fitness levels and intensity. Bielsa will need better players on the ball.”
