The Liverpool midfielder has slipped down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp and would appear to be drawing towards an Anfield exit this summer.
Would Oxlade-Chamberlain be a good signing for Leeds?
Oxlade-Chamberlain has endured a torrid time with injuries since making the switch from Arsenal, and has started just two Premier League games this season, despite Liverpool’s very own problems with injuries leaving them short in the central areas.
Liverpool have reportedly put him up for sale for just £17m, with Borussia Dortmund interested, but Carlton Palmer suggested to This is Futbol that the £120,000-per-week star is the type of player that could take the Yorkshire outfit to the next level.
But Windass disagrees and doesn’t believe the former Arsenal man would fit the bill at Elland Road.
He told This is Futbol:
“He needs to get a good pre-season down him, because he’s been injured – Ox is a good player. He’s a wonderful talent, but he just needs to get fit.
“He’d get into any team in the Premier League because of his age, but not for me for Leeds, not a Bielsa type of player.”
But the former Middlesbrough and Sheffield United striker refused to rule out Oxlade-Chamberlain moving to Elland Road should Bielsa leave this summer.
“Liverpool are obviously going to let him go, but he needs to find a team that suits his style of play. But for a Leeds United player under Bielsa? No. Maybe if Bielsa leaves and another manager comes in.”
