David Norris has exclusively told This is Futbol that Rodrigo’s injury struggles this season won’t stop Leeds from spending big this summer.

The Spanish international was tipped for huge things following his club-record £26m move from Valencia last summer.

Should Rodrigo De Paul be Leeds' number one transfer target this summer?

But Patrick Bamford’s exceptional form and Rodrigo’s injury problems have restricted him to just 14 starts in the Premier League, with only just more than a handful coming since the turn of the year.

Remarkably, the 30-year-old striker has scored more goals in the month of May (4) than across the rest of the season combined having wrapped up the victory over Tottenham before netting a fine brace against Burnley seven days later, and finding the net again against West Bromwich Albion.

And with those three wins helping Leeds secure a top-half finish, they’ll be hoping to mount a serious European challenge next season, with Marcelo Bielsa expected to be given funds to improve his squad.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

Norris told This is Futbol that he doesn’t expect Rodrigo largely failing to live up to his price-tag to affect Leeds’ transfer business moving forward:

“I don’t think so. I think they would have already earmarked certain players that they want to go all out for, regardless of what they’ve already got and who’s coming back from injury.

“Work will have been done. Rodrigo did well the other day, maybe next season could be his season, but I don’t see it affecting any business Leeds do this summer.”
