In an exclusive interview with This Is Futbol, former Leeds United midfielder Carlton Palmer has warned Patrick Bamford that he would be crazy to leave the Yorkshire club.

The Athletic (via TEAMtalk) recently reported that Bamford secretly extended his contract last summer, which is now due to expire in 2023 rather than 2022, and is attracting interest from Liverpool.

Such speculation comes as no surprise given the season Bamford has had. The 27-year-old striker reached the 15-goal mark in the current Premier League campaign last weekend after bagging against Tottenham as Leeds went on to record a 3-1 win.

Will Bamford be at Leeds next season?

He's going nonwhere!

He's going nonwhere!

He's leaving!

He's leaving!

Palmer, however, has urged him to think twice before leaving the place that has seen him play his best football.

Speaking exclusively to TIF about Bamford’s future, the ex-Leeds player said:

“Would I go for him if I was a top club? Maybe as a squad player. But, for me, Bamford would be crazy to move on.

“He’s at Leeds, he’s playing, he’s had a fantastic season and he’s only going to improve under [Marcelo] Bielsa.”

In contrast, Liverpool’s current No.9 Roberto Firmino has not had the most prolific of seasons in front of goal.

Furthermore, perhaps Jurgen Klopp really could look to move for Bamford this summer as he attempts to add more firepower to his side.
