Former Leeds United midfielder Carlton Palmer has told This Is Futbol in an exclusive interview that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the kind of signing that could take his old side to the next level.

This comes after reports emerged suggesting that Liverpool would be willing to part ways with the midfielder this summer for a fee of £17m.

£120,000-a-week man Oxlade-Chamberlain has had his injury problems this season, but when he has been fit, the 27-year-old has struggled to break into Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.

Will Bamford be at Leeds next season?

He's going nonwhere!

He's going nonwhere!

He's leaving!

He's leaving!

It could leave him with a decision to make in the summer. And if there is that doubt, Palmer believes Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds should try their luck.

Speaking exclusively to TIF about Oxlade-Chamberlain and his former club, the retired Premier League player said:

“Alex could be a good fit for any team. I think he’s a very good player; I think he’s just been unfortunate with injuries. I don’t know why Liverpool would want to sell him – maybe he wants to play more regular football.

“I mean, why not? Leeds have done fantastically well and this is what I’m talking about going to the next level. You know, the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain could take you to the next level, and it’s a big club as well.”

An England international with loads of top-flight and Champions League experience, Oxlade-Chamberlain certainly looks like a player who could bring a lot to this Leeds side.
