Wolves winger Adama Traore would have fitted in well at Leeds United, claims their former midfielder Carlton Palmer.

At the end of last year, 90min reported that the Yorkshire club were keen on the 25-year-old, with both manager Marcelo Bielsa and director of football Victor Orta admirers.

However, Goal have since revealed that Traore is close to signing a new deal at Molineux in a blow for Leeds.

Would you be sad to see Roberts go?

If they had been able to get this deal over the line, for Palmer, it would have been smart business.

Speaking exclusively to TIF about the Whites’ links to Traore, the ex-England international said:

“I think any player that’s mobile and has got energy can play in the Leeds side. You’ve got to be fit to play in the Leeds side, the way he [Bielsa] plays, the way he wants to play.

“Closing the other teams down and then breaking from deep into their own half against the opposition, you’ve got to be fit. So he [Traore] fits that category. I mean, he dribbles well with the ball and is a fit lad.

I’m sure he would have fitted in.”

Liverpool and Barcelona were also said to be interested in Traore’s signature, so signing the Spain international was probably never going to be an easy task for Leeds.

He would have been some acquisition for Bielsa’s attack, though, recording an impressive average of 4.1 dribbles per game in the recently concluded Premier League campaign (per WhoScored).
