Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, former Leeds United striker Brian Deane believes his old side could make a real statement by signing Paris Saint-Germain attacker Julian Draxler.

The 27-year-old could be on his way to Elland Road this summer, that is according to Sport1 (via Leeds Live), who claim that the Whites are interested in signing him when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Draxler is a player with a vast amount of experience at the top level. As well as PSG, the £30m Germany international has also played for Bundesliga outfits Wolfsburg and Schalke.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

He has played in the Champions League and was, of course, part of that Die Mannschaft squad that won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The attacking midfielder has constantly been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, with Wolfsburg reportedly slapping a £50m price tag on his head back in 2016.

For Deane, he would be a serious signing if the Whites managed to pull it off. On Draxler, the retired Premier League player told TIF:

“I definitely think it’s the kind of statement player who would be interesting. We know he plays at the level; he’s a Germany international.

You can’t always looks to recruit from the juniors, the youth. At some point, you have to bring in players who are going to help the club make that step, and he sounds like the kind of player who would help them do that.”

Indeed, and especially on a free transfer, signing Draxler could be unreal business by Andrea Radrizzani.
