Former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has told This Is Futbol in an exclusive interview that the Villans landing Dwight McNeil for £15m this summer would be a bargain.
Villa are said to be interested in the Burnley winger and, according to Football Insider, they could look to tie up a deal for £15m.
Whether that will be enough to take McNeil to Villa Park remains to be seen, but he is a player Hendrie would definitely like to see in Dean Smith’s starting XI.
Is Grealish England's most talented attacker?
Without a doubt!
Not a chance!
The 21-year-old has been Burnley’s main creative source this season, posting some very decent numbers for key passes and dribbles per league game when compared to the rest of his team-mates (via WhoScored).
Speaking exclusively to TIF about Villa’s reported interest in McNeil, Hendrie said:
“I’d snap their hands off, £15m, all day. I still think that’s very cheap.
“He’d be one I’d definitely take. I’ve watched him and he’s very direct, he’s very silky, good football brain and he’s got a wand of a left foot. I mean, he puts some excellent delivery in from wide areas.
“I’d certainly, certainly be having him at the football club if he was available at that price.”
It would not be a surprise to see Villa move for a wide man this summer following Trezeguet’s ACL injury, which is expected to keep him out of action for a year.
