Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted on Twitter to a claim suggesting the club holds an interest in West Brom’s Sam Johnstone this summer.
ESPN have reported the north London side to be leading the race to secure the services of the 28-year-old in this summer’s transfer window.
Johnstone joined West Brom in 2018 from Manchester United in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £6.5m and has since gone on to make 123 appearances for the Baggies (via Transfermarkt).
Should Spurs sign Johnstone this summer?
The tweet drew in these Spurs fans who were clearly not too impressed by the reported news that Spurs could be making a move in the summer for a goalkeeper who has already conceded 57 goals this season.
“Yay, looking to buy a goalkeeper from a team that will get relegated. Makes sense”
“We really are finished, this sort of stuff will continue even more so under a manager like nagelsmann since he’s young and doesn’t have much power, this board will never change the way they operate. Idc who the manager is ik it won’t change.”
“Surely he’s the brought in as Joe Harts replacement? Thought his contract was up I the summer. If he’s brought in to replace Hugo then the club is an even bigger disgrace then most of us originally thought”
also suggested the former Manchester United goalkeeper could be made available for under £10m with just over one more year left on his West Brom contract.
“Ah the cheap option as always.”
“I’m lost for words – Levy strikes again – the bargain bucket it is then!”
“You serious, but is he even good,
It will be interesting to see if this rumour becomes a reality given the response from these Spurs fans who seem far from amused by the thought of Johnstone coming to the north London side in the summer.
