The report from Football Insider claims Lewis to have found a buyer for 50% of the club at the end of last year, however, the deal reportedly fell through.

According to the report, the deal for a 50% sale of the club was believed to be worth in the region of £800m.

Chairman Daniel Levy is the public face of the ENIC ownership group and holds a share of just under 30% in the north London club.

Spurs fans flocked to the tweet relaying the report with many of them expressing their delight at the idea of Lewis selling the club.

Please god let this be true @JeffBezo we need you”

“Best news ever I really do hope it’s true”
Lewis purchased the club back in 2001 from Lord Alan Sugar, but under his ownership, the club has only lifted one trophy which came in the form of the League Cup in 2008.

Going by the reaction of these Spurs fans it would appear they would welcome a change of ownership following a 20-year stint by the English businessman which has seen the club fall behind in their search for trophies with a current 13-year drought.
