A lot of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to slam the first-half display of Sean Longstaff in their Premier League clash against Burnley.

The Magpies entered the game knowing maximum points would send them six clear of 18th-placed Fulham and still hold a game in hand over the Cottagers.

Steve Bruce’s side were handed a confidence boost last Sunday after Joe Willock’s 85th-minute goal earned the Tynesiders an unexpected point against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Coming into the game at Turf Moor, Longstaff had made just 14 Premier League appearances this campaign racking up 928 minutes across those games (via Transfermarkt).

Following the 23-year-old’s first-half display, the Toon Army did not seem amused by the midfielder’s performance with many wanting more from him.

“I swear Longstaff is awful, what do people see in him #NUFC

“Dear me longstaff absolutely appalling”

“That goal doesn’t happen if Longstaff is on his man”
“Longstaff jogging back not tracking his man. Woeful that.”
“Longstaff literally stood and watched. Woeful! #nufc
“Longstaff just not good enough Willock ten times better”

Going off the reaction of these Newcastle fans it is apparent they have been left far from impressed by Longstaff’s display in the first half at Turf Moor with many questioning his effort during the first 45 minutes.
