A lot of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to vent their anger towards Steve Bruce for his post-match comments following their draw away to Liverpool.

After the game, Lee Ryder relayed Bruce’s comments on their 21-year-old midfielder Joe Willock who is currently on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season.

Bruce said: “Joe Willock was devastated yesterday when I told him he was not playing but he has come on in the last three games and scored. I am delighted for him.”

The youngster scored a late equaliser for Bruce’s side at Anfield to take the Toon Army nine points clear of 18th-placed Fulham with just five games remaining of their 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

Willock has now scored three goals in his last three appearances in the Premier League and all three have come as a substitute in which he has played a combined 46 minutes. (via Transfermarkt)

Newcastle fans flocked to Ryder’s tweet to slam their manager for not selecting Willock more often in his starting XI.

“Start him next game then please.”

Bruce has already admitted he would love to see the 21-year-old back at St. James’ Park next season, however, his recent form may well have seen his price tag increase dramatically.

Going by the reaction of these Newcastle fans it is apparent they are furious with Bruce for not selecting Willock more frequently given his recent returns in front of goal.
