Former Celtic manager John Barnes says Scott Brown and Leigh Griffiths won’t be a ‘big loss’ for the club.
It was announced in March that Brown would leave in the summer after 14 years at Parkhead.
The 35-year-old skipper is to take up a player-coach role at rivals Aberdeen.
What’s the latest on Griffiths’ future?
Striker Griffiths could follow him out of the door.
Celtic have the option to extend Griffiths’ £15,000-per-week contract by a year but could allow to leave him amid interest from Aberdeen and Hibernian (via Glasgow Times).
The 30-year-old has racked up more than 250 appearances in Glasgow, scoring 122 goals and providing 51 assists (via Transfermarkt).
But his involvement has been limited this season. He’s only started six Scottish Premier League matches and he played a mere 76 minutes of their Europa League campaign.
Barnes, though, says that ‘Celtic is changing’, and departing the club may be a ‘good move for both’ before they are left behind.
