Sky Sports pundit Keith Andrews has been speaking on the latest edition of Sky Sports’ EFL Podcast about chances of Nigel Adkins’ Charlton Athletic making the play-offs this season.
The Addicks beat Sunderland 2-1 at the weekend to move Nigel Adkins’ side into seventh with seven games remaining, and Andrews thinks that Charlton are in safe hands when assessing their chances of staking a claim for the top six.
He said: “They’re in a decent position. He’s brought Pratley back into the team; look at the experience throughout that side. Forster-Caskey, I think has had a decent season, but why not, the position they’re in in the league?
“We know Nigel Adkins is such a safe pair of hands.
“Nigel Adkins did a brilliant job at Hull; let’s not forget about that. So good to see him back in, and I think it suits, you know when you get a manager going to a particular club, and you just get the feeling that should fit quite well.
“If anything he reminds you a little bit maybe of Alan Curbishley with that type of role that type of personality maybe. So yeah, I think they’re in a decent place, Charlton.”
Do you think Adkins can get Charlton promoted?
Yes, he can
No, not this season
TIF Thoughts on Adkins…
The former Southampton boss has a strong promotion record from League One, having achieved it three times, and he has made a decent start to life at the Valley.
Charlton have taken seven points from Adkins’ first three games in charge of the club, and they are in a good position to potentially seal a play-off spot.
The win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light was impressive as the Black Cats are chasing automatic promotion and Adkins’ side came away with a huge win, and it will be intriguing to see if they can continue this momentum and secure a play-off spot.
