Celtic podcaster Paul Fisher has recently discussed the future of the club’s star Mohamed Elyounoussi.

Fisher appeared on the latest episode of the Grand Auld podcast and the panel talked about numerous issues involving Celtic and their recent 6-0 win over Livingston in the Premiership.

Elyounoussi grabbed a brace against Livingston recently and this led to the panel talking about the Norwegian’s future at Parkhead. Fisher believes that Elyounoussi’s seems to have gone off the radar for Celtic fans, but he wouldn’t be against the idea of the Hoops shelling out money to sign him permanently.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

Elyounoussi is currently in his second consecutive loan spell at Parkhead and it has been reported that Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl wants to give the 26-year-old a chance in the summer. It is expected he will return to the club and Hasenhuttl will use pre-season to have a look at him (as per The Athletic).

Fisher believes that another loan deal isn’t viable for Elyounoussi and he will move to another club in the summer.

The podcaster stated: “I think he’s very, very quickly gone off Celtic fans’ radar because not a lot of people believe that he’ll be here next season, but I think with the right price tag, he fits in well.

“I think another loan just isn’t viable. He’ll be moving on, I think, next season to a new club. And me personally, I would not be against us spending a wee bit of money and getting him in because he certainly knows how to do it in the Scottish game.”

TIF Thoughts on Elyounoussi…

During his time at Parkhead, Elyounoussi has contributed to 34 goals in all competitions over two seasons, while playing 62 games for the Hoops (as per Transfermarkt).

In the current campaign, only Odsonne Edouard has scored more goals than the Norwegian, which shows Elyounoussi’s importance for Celtic.

Celtic’s transfer record stands at only £9.27 million and Elyounoussi’s current value stands at £10.8 million, as per Transfermarkt. This might be a suggestion of the fact that the Hoops would have to break their transfer record to sign Elyounoussi. Considering his contributions, he might be worth it.
