Podcaster John McGinley has recently delivered his opinion about the idea of John Kennedy staying at Parkhead alongside their potential next manager, Eddie Howe.

This came after McGinley appeared on the latest episode of the Grand Auld podcast and the panel talked about numerous issues involving the Hoops and their next potential manager Eddie Howe.

They also talked about the possibility of Kennedy staying at Parkhead, even if Howe gets appointed in the future. McGinley made it clear that he won’t be against the idea of the interim boss staying, as he can pass on his knowledge of the club to Howe.

The Daily Mail had recently reported that while Howe has agreed a deal in principle with the Hoops and has made a demand for Richard Hughes to be brought in, he is happy to have both Kennedy and Gavin Strachan alongside him.

McGinley made it clear that transition is the buzz word for Celtic and keeping Kennedy could help the Bhoys ease that transition.

The podcaster claimed: “I’m not particularly against Kennedy staying on. I know everyone’s got to be in there, but I don’t think he should be a manager.

“I know he’s had a role to play in some of the failures this season, but if a new manager’s coming in and there’s a great transition – transition seems to be the buzzword over the last few weeks – surely we want someone in there who knows these players and knows what they’re all about and can communicate that to a new coach?”

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

TIF Thoughts on Kennedy staying at Celtic…

Kennedy has been at Parkhead for multiple years now and he’s also taken up many different roles at the club. This suggests that he knows the club very well indeed, having been a player at Celtic in the past (as per Transfermarkt).

The Hoops are about to lose veteran skipper Scott Brown in the summer. Neil Lennon has already left and so has Nick Hammond. Peter Lawwell is set to step down, with Dominic McKay set to take over

So there will clearly be wholesale changes at the club in the summer and amidst that, they’d need someone who knows the club well. And Kennedy could certainly be that man, especially since Howe will be happy to have him.
