Former Celtic star Joe Ledley has recently hailed James Forrest for his abilities and importance to the Hoops.

Ledley appeared as a guest on the latest episode of the Celtic Huddle podcast and the panel discussed numerous issues involving the Hoops. While they asked Ledley for his opinion about multiple players, one man that they focused on was Forrest.

Ledley believes that the Scotsman is still a massive player for the Bhoys and he can be a nightmare for the opposition defenders. He also feels that Forrest is one of the best players of the Celtic side.

The Welshman has shared the dressing room with Forrest in the past, as the winger made his debut for Celtic back in the 2009/10 campaign. Ledley joined Celtic in 2010 and left in early 2014.

Ledley believes that Forrest never gets as much credit as he deserves and this season has proved how much they can miss him.

The ex-Celtic midfielder stated: “He’s a massive player for Celtic, he’s one of the best. He’s proven over the last few years and seasons how good he is. He’s not just scored goals, he’s a defender’s nightmare. He’s so quick. The more he’s matured with age, he’s gained a lot more experience. You could see that in his play. He’s got better over the years, he’s a massive part of Celtic.

“He gets you up the pitch, he creates chances. For me, I think he’s up there with probably one of the best players in that team. To be out for so long has just proven how much they’ve missed him. He doesn’t get much credit.”

TIF Thoughts on James Forrest…

Forrest has endured an injury-stricken campaign, as he returned from an ankle injury only recently. That injury had kept him out for many months.

Last season, though, the Scotsman played 47 games in all competitions and managed to score 16 goals while picking up 22 assists for the Bhoys. Even in the 2018/19 campaign, he contributed to 38 goals.

It shows that he’s a regular contributor to goals for the team and considering how the Hoops have missed out on the league title, Forrest could’ve added something to the team.
