Alec Anderson has been speaking on the latest instalment of the Gersnet podcast, where he revealed his growing concerns for Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack’s fitness.

Jack has been one of Steven Gerrard’s most important players throughout his time at the club, but his persistent injury issues are starting to become a real problem for the 29-year-old.

Since arriving from Aberdeen back in 2017, the Scotland international has missed several games for the newly crowned champions and is currently sidelined with a calf injury.

It’s the third time in as many years that the former Dons man has been on the treatment table through a calf problem, and Anderson is worried about the long-term effects.

He said: “It’s becoming a concern, it is becoming a concern. But it’s never properly been diagnosed either. In the press conferences it’s kind of, ‘Oh, it’s a bit longer than we thought. He’s going to come back a bit later than we thought.’

“We knew he was going to see a specialist, you can’t help putting two and two together and just generally been worried for the guy, if we’re ever going to see him. You know, I certainly hope so.”

TIF Thoughts on Jack…

The experienced midfielder has been a solid performer since arriving at Ibrox four years ago, often earning public praise from Gerrard.

During his time in Glasgow, Jack has made 130 appearances for Rangers but has been limited to just 16 league starts this season.

With Scotland set to take part in their first major tournament in 22 years this summer, Jack will be hoping he can overcome his latest setback sooner rather than later.
