Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, Peterborough director of football Barry Fry believes Eddie Howe is holding out for a Premier League opportunity, hence his decision not to accept the Celtic job yet.

Following Neil Lennon’s resignation back in February, Celtic are searching for a new permanent manager and Howe seems to be their man from their point of view.

According to BBC Sport, the “job is his if he wants it”. However, it appears the former Bournemouth boss is not willing to rush into anything and is considering all of his options, with Football Insider suggesting that he may be having second thoughts over dealing with the expectation of winning every match.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

Discussing Howe’s future and whether Howe could handle the Parkhead pressure in an exclusive interview with TIF, the director of football said:

“I think Eddie Howe can take any pressure that’s thrown up to him; there’s no question about that. It’s whether he feels that, you know, it’s a big enough challenge because basically it’s Celtic or Rangers in Scotland, so it’s either one or the other.”

One possible destination in England for Howe could be Crystal Palace. Football Insider reports the 43-year-old has already spoken to the south London club as they plan for life after Roy Hodgson.
