Pundit Gordon Dalziel has recently given his opinion about Celtic defender Anthony Ralston.

This came after Dalziel appeared as a guest on Superscoreboard and he answered the questions of many callers. One player that he did talk about was Ralston and his future at Parkhead.

Dalziel made it clear that Ralston is not good enough for Celtic and the new Celtic manager will not have him in the first-team at all. He also talked about things from the defender’s perspective.

Is Ralston good enough for Celtic?

Ralston, currently 22, has played just once in the Premiership for Celtic this season but he’s been on the bench multiple times for the Bhoys (as per Transfermarkt).

Dalziel talked about the right-back, saying that he would be thinking if he even has a future at Celtic anymore.

The former Manchester City player said (59:25): “I think that if Ralson for instance at right back, he must be sitting there going – ‘Have I got a career here?’

“Because if he can’t get in at right-back just now, I just wonder where he’s going. It tells me he’s not good enough. Right? First and foremost [it] tells me he’s not good enough. I don’t think for one minute a new manager is going to walk in next season and Ralston’s going to be your right-back.”

TIF Thoughts on Ralston’s future…

Celtic parted ways with both Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Abd Elhamed in the winter transfer window, as Jonjoe Kenny joined on a loan deal from Everton (as per Transfermarkt).

As things stand, Kenny is Celtic’s only out-and-out option at right-back, apart from Ralston. This clearly shows that the club seems to not have too much trust in Ralston, even though he has a lot of experience of playing in the Premiership in his loan stints.

So the 22-year-old is bound to be disappointed by that and if he doesn’t get any game time in the next few weeks, he should consider leaving soon.
