Celtic podcaster John McGinley has recently slammed the club’s left-back Diego Laxalt.

On the latest video of the 67 HailHail Youtube channel, McGinley gave his verdict about Celtic’s recent loss to Rangers in the Old Firm derby in the Scottish Cup.

McGinley talked about the performance of Laxalt in the game and the podcaster made it clear that the Uruguayan should not play for the club ever again, as he doesn’t seem to have the mentality to play for the Bhoys.

The left-back arrived at Parkhead on loan from Milan in the last summer transfer window. He had spent the first half of last season on loan at Torino, but returned to Milan in the second half of the campaign (as per Transfermarkt). He is currently valued at £3.60m.

Is Laxalt good enough for Celtic?

He started against the Gers in the Scottish Cup, but McGinley criticised his decision-making and mentality.

The podcaster said (2:21) “Laxalt shouldn’t play for Celtic again. There’s only a handful of games now left anyway but he should just be sent back to AC Milan. He’s not good enough; I don’t think he has the mentality to play for Celtic. You talk about decision-making processes there, I’m not sure Laxalt has one to begin with, never mind making the right call.”

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

TIF Thoughts on Laxalt…

Laxalt hasn’t been a regular for the Hoops since he joined and he has been in and out of the first-team over the months.

During his time at Parkhead, the Uruguayan has picked up a rating of 6.82 in the Premiership, while scoring one goal. As many as 17 players have picked up a better rating than him, which shows that he hasn’t been impressive.

So because of that, it is easy to see why McGinley is against the idea of Celtic signing Laxalt permanently.
