Former Celtic man Mark Wilson has recently made a rather alarming claim about Karamoko Dembele.

On the latest episode of Superscoreboard, Wilson came on and talked about the situation of young Dembele at Celtic. He compared the youngster to another former Celtic starlet in Islam Feruz, saying that he wouldn’t want Dembele to go on the same path as Feruz.

Wilson stated that even though Celtic may have some options in the same positions as Dembele plays in, they should look to play him more often. He made his fears clear for the young winger too.

Will Dembele leave Celtic in the summer?

Dembele did feature for the Bhoys against Aberdeen recently, as he played ten minutes of the game. The youngster has been previously linked with a move away from Celtic, with Borussia Dortmund said to be interested.

It has been suggested that many people at Celtic are disappointed about his lack of development at Parkhead.

Wilson talked about the youngster and said (58:01): “They’ve got a large squad, particularly in that position and they’ve thought he’s not good enough to break in. They need to give the kid some time. Hopefully he just doesn’t drift out.

“I was there with the boy [Islam] Feruz. I played a reserve game with [him]. He was outstanding, he played in front of me, he was brilliant. But he went down the road never to be seen again. I just hope that doesn’t happen with Dembele.”

TIF Thoughts on Karamoko Dembele…

Dembele was initially expected to play as a back-up option for James Forrest on the right flank but even though the Scotsman had been injured for a vast majority of the campaign, Dembele’s game time has been few and far in between.

It has been reported that there have been concerns about Dembele’s application and attitude and training, which makes it understandable why he hasn’t played too much. His current contract runs out in the summer of 2022, which suggests that he could still play for the club for another season.

Considering how Feruz left Celtic without playing for the first-team, perhaps Dembele should get some more first-team experience at Parkhead before deciding to move elsewhere.
