Speaking on the latest edition of Touchline Talk, Eurosport journalist Dean Jones has been speaking about Celtic’s search for a new manager.

The Bhoys have been without a permanent manager since February when the club and Neil Lennon parted ways bringing an end to his second tenure at the club.

Would you like Kennedy to stay at Celtic?

No

John Kennedy has taken temporary charge of the Parkhead side with the Hoops currently sitting in second with a comfortable 14-point cushion on third-placed Hibernian.

However, Jones believes Kennedy blew any remaining hopes of becoming the manager on a permanent basis with their defeat in the Old Firm last weekend in the Scottish Cup.

He said: “I think that Old Firm game that you referenced last weekend, I think that was probably John Kennedy’s last chance to make it his and I think if they’d have won that game, I think he might have had a chance.

“I think he would have given them an easy choice to make. But he hasn’t done it and I think that’s it for that avenue now. I don’t think they can continue to explore it.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Since Kennedy took over as interim manager, Celtic have been solid in the Scottish Premiership. They have not lost in the league, however, the Old Firm derby plays a huge role in the success of either side’s season and Kennedy’s side were swept aside by Steven Gerrard’s men in the recent 2-0 defeat.

One name that has been strongly linked is former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, but it seems a move for him has become more difficult with reported interest from Crystal Palace.

Two months since sacking Lennon, how much longer are Celtic willing to wait on Howe before making a move elsewhere?
