Journalist Derek McGregor has recently discussed the future of Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.

McGregor appeared on the latest episode of The Celtic Huddle podcast and the panel talked about numerous issues involving the Parkhead-based side. One topic of discussion was Edouard, ahead of Celtic’s Scottish Cup game against Rangers.

McGregor believes that Edouard is now a couple of months away from departing Parkhead, so now is the best time for the Frenchman to deliver for the Hoops. The journalist also made it clear that it is almost certain that the striker is going to be sold.

Recent reports have linked Edouard with a move to Leicester City and Arsenal, with both clubs interested in the Frenchman. Arsenal are said to be looking to overhaul their forward line, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah set to enter the final year of their deals.

McGregor also made it clear that the Old Firm will be the game where Edouard has to step up and make a mark.

The journalist stated (5:05): “He’s a couple of months away from probably leaving Celtic in a transfer, so now is the optimum time for Edouard to deliver.

“If he’s wanting to have as good an options as possible to leave Celtic, I think it’s almost certain he’s going to be sold, then these are the kind of games that he needs to turn up. He needs to deliver.”

TIF Thoughts on Edouard’s future…

Edouard’s current contract at Parkhead runs out in the summer of 2022, meaning that the upcoming summer window could be Celtic’s best chance of earning a good fee from his sale.

While he has been the club’s highest scorer this season, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Brighton have been linked with him. Ligue 1 side Monaco have also reportedly had an offer rejected by the Bhoys in the past.

This shows that there’s enough interest in the Frenchman and Celtic could perhaps use that to earn a higher fee. And Edouard’s performance in the Old Firm may certainly help in increasing his price tag.
