On the latest edition of Touchline Talk, journalist Dean Jones has been speaking about Celtic’s ongoing search for a new permanent manager.

John Kennedy has taken temporary charge of the Bhoys following the departure of Neil Lennon back in February which ended his second stint at the club.

One name which has been heavily linked with the job at Parkhead is former Bournemouth manager, Eddie Howe.

Will Howe sign for Celtic?

No

The 43-year-old has been out of work since last summer following the Cherries’ relegation back to the Championship despite the strong links to the vacant Celtic job.

Discussing the possibility of Howe becoming the next Celtic manager, Jones had the following to say:

He’s there if they want him, basically, well they do want him, I think. But Howe, I think he’s just keeping an eye on what English jobs might crop up.

“I think he’s been made aware that there might be a couple of openings coming for him and that it might be better suited. But I do still think he’s in the frame at Celtic potentially.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

According to Jones, the ongoing search for a new permanent Celtic manager does not seem to be getting any closer to its conclusion and as he says it appears there is no rush from Howe currently to commit to any jobs which are currently vacant.

Although Jones believes Howe is still in the picture to become the next manager at Parkhead, if the club is hoping to rebuild their side this summer then there has to be a point where they may need to remove Howe from their shortlist if he is not showing any sign of urgency in becoming the next manager at Celtic.

Other names have been mentioned including Roy Keane and Jesse Marsch which Celtic may have to turn their attention to if there is no breakthrough in their efforts for Howe.
