This comes after Daily Record Sport shared a post on their official Twitter page that contained an article from their website about Christie.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

The article claims that Celtic could be set to lose Christie for nothing with him free to sign a pre-contract in the summer after it was reported by The Mail On Sunday (via Daily Record) that the extension he signed in November 2018 only runs until January of next year.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Hoops fans, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest update.

So, what did these Celtic fans have to say in response to this transfer news about Christie?

“bye”

@stivaldo

“Christie started to believe his own hype. Guy has a lot of learning to do.”

@MarleyLovesBeer

“Let him go. Nowhere near as good as he thinks he is”

@angmarrising

“The boy thinks he is better than he is, will end up back at Aberdeen.”

@bomber77oy77

“I think we are all concerned he might sign a new one at Celtic”

@jsmith10013

For me he can go. For every superb goal there’s 20-odd attempts that would work out better in rugby”

@saoralba2

Celtic signed Christie back in 2015 from fellow Scottish side Inverness Caledonian Thistle for an undisclosed fee. Since then, the 26-year-old, who is currently valued at £8.1 million, has made 13 appearances for the Bhoys in which he has managed to score 40 goals and provide 40 assists (per Transfermarkt).

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems that these Celtic fans would be happy to see Christie leave the club during the upcoming summer transfer window or in the following January.

Would you be disappointed if Ryan Christie left Celtic this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

In our view, despite these Celtic fans seemingly happy to see Christie leave this summer, the fact that that he has made more assists (8) in the SPFL than any other Hoops player so far this season shows that he has still been an important figure in the squad and could potentially be a big miss for them next season if he does depart at some point.
