Celtic fans have been urged to trust Dermot Desmond by pundit Tam Cowan.

Cowan appeared as a guest on the latest episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show and the panel talked about numerous issues involving Scottish football and the Hoops. The pundits gave their views about the next potential Celtic manager too.

While talking about this, Cowan said that the Hoops fans should trust Desmond to make the call, as he has been in a similar situation and he ended up hiring a quality manager like Brendan Rodgers.

While Celtic do have an agreement in principle with Eddie Howe, the Englishman has made certain demands to the club before he takes over. Roy Keane has been linked in the past too, but recent rumours have linked the Hoops with Lucien Favre.

Cowan believes that because of how he hired Rodgers, Desmond deserves a fair chance at trying to re-energise the Hoops again.

The pundit said (14:26): “I think if I was a Celtic fan, I’d put my faith in Dermot Desmond. Because of the collapse of last season and the almost sudden re-emergence of Rangers who won the league, Dermot Desmond has now got to get serious.

“This has got to be a serious appointment. He’s got to pick the right man at Celtic and the last time of course, Dermot Desmond found himself in this position, he brought in Brendan Rodgers. And the rest, as they say is history. I think he deserves a fair crack of the whip from Celtic fans to get on and do his business.”

TIF Thoughts on Dermot Desmond…

The fact that Desmond has already held face-to-face talks in London with Howe shows that he’s perhaps keen on bringing in the Englishman and the agreement in principle also shows that things are still on track.

While protests have been held in the current season against Desmond, Peter Lawwell and former boss Neil Lennon, the majority shareholder has admitted to making mistakes in the campaign.

Considering the disappointments of this season, Celtic need a rebuild and it has been suggested that they are preparing for a revamp. If Desmond helps overseeing the revamp, he could make up for the mistakes that were made this season.
