A lot of Celtic fans have flocked to a post from Daily Record Sport, which contains a link to an article that has comments from Kris Commons on Eddie Howe.
Speaking in his Daily Mail column, the former Celtic man claimed that “Howe is not the messiah” and that “it is difficult to imagine him holding court in the dressing room” (Daily Mail via the Daily Record).
Commons also claimed that if Howe does take the Celtic job, it will be a “culture shock” and that his CV “isn’t in the same league” as Brendan Rodgers’.
This is a pretty brutal assessment of the next potential Celtic manager, and it has not gone down well with these Bhoys fans.
“Celtic could hire Guardiola as manager and Klopp as assistant and Kris Commons would call it a risky appointment.”
“More Waffle, So Kris has he not beaten Liverpool, Man City and Spurs away from home so let’s give the guy some credit he gets big game mentality. Did MON play in Europe alot before Celtic? No. He WILL be a great manager Im sure.”
“Prefer to take opinions from people who didn’t deliberately undermine their own manager when playing for celtic”
Do you think Howe could prove Commons wrong?
Yes, he is a great manager
No, he isn't that good
Talks for Howe to replace Neil Lennon are said to be progressing, but Commons doesn’t seem keen on the former Bournemouth manager taking over at Celtic Park, which given what he achieved with Bournemouth, seems ridiculous.
This post continued to draw in angry Celtic fans.
“Is Commons competing with Boyd to see which Kris can spout the most nonsense in one breath”
“Nobody said he was the messiah. Made up baloney. What we do know is we are getting a very good tactical manager.(if he comes)”
“Kris Commons. Never known someone as negative since victor meldrew! Can’t wait til Howe comes in and is as successful as some of his predecessors that Kris mentions in the article”
It will be interesting to see if Howe does become the next Celtic boss and if he does, we hope that he proves Commons wrong.
