Wolves journalist Nathan Judah thinks that the club should try and sign Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham during the upcoming transfer window.

The forward department has been something of a problem for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men this season. Following the loss of their top two scorers from last season in the form of Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota, this season’s crop have failed to pick up the slack, with Ruben Neves and Pedro Neto both on just five for the campaign.

And speaking on the E&S Wolves podcast, Judah thinks that Chelsea forward Abraham might be the man that can solve their problems next season, whether Jimenez has 100% recovered from his injury or not, and even suggests breaking the bank in order to do it:

“If I was Wolves, I’d go all out and go get Tammy Abraham in the summer. I’d say, ‘go and get him. £40m, go and get him’. If Raul [Jimenez] doesn’t come back the same, they have Tammy Abraham. If he does come back the same, there’s competition, you can play two up top.”

TIF Thoughts on Nathan Judah’s comments on Tammy Abraham signing for Wolves…

Judah seems pretty confident that Abraham can solve arguably Wolves’ biggest problem this season. But the fact is that Abraham has something of a hit-and-miss record when it comes to the Premier League, and you have to be certain that you will be able to get the best out of him before you try and buy him, especially at the price that Judah mentions – and especially given that Wolves aren’t in the best place financially right now.

So whilst it is true that Abraham could be the answer, and depending on what Chelsea do with their centre-forward position he could be available, but it has to be at the right price and £40m for someone who isn’t a sure thing comes across as something of a major risk.
