Wolves journalist Nathan Judah has voiced his concern on Raul Jimenez’s injury and how it might affect the club’s plans for the summer transfer window.

Jimenez, valued at £31.5m on Transfermarkt, has been out of action since November with a nasty skull injury, although there is some hope that he might be able to recover before the end of the season.

Speaking on the E&S Wolves podcast, Judah thinks that could play a massive part in how Wolves attack the transfer window, because the club will need to see whether or not he is totally up to speed or if they need to go and sign a new centre-forward:

“We still haven’t seen Raul, you still don’t know how he’s going to come back, we hope he’s going to be the same striker, but again, you do not know. And if we don’t see him before now and the end of the season, or we just see a fleeting twenty minutes, half an hour, one start before the end – is that enough to know you’re going to be absolutely fine?”

Judah is right to be worried about the timetable of Jimenez’s return, because Wolves can’t go into the summer window unsure about what they are going to do at that position. Given how important he is to the side, with his goal return and that of the rest of his team a pretty good indicator of that, it is arguably the most crucial part of the team for them to address this summer.

And they might not be able to afford to wait until the first few pre-season games to get a fair assessment, they need to see him as early as possible. This poses a very risky challenge to them as they try to balance his return from injury against his value to them heading into the next campaign.
