Wolves journalist Nathan Judah thinks that the writing could be on the wall when it comes to the future of loanee Vitinha.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men signed Vitinha, valued at £5.4m on Transfermarkt, on loan from Porto last summer and do have the option to make the deal permanent if they desire. However, he hasn’t exactly had much opportunity to prove himself at Molineux this campaign, only starting five times across all competitions and making 16 appearances in total.

And given the number of injuries that are currently going through the team right now, speaking on the E&S Wolves podcast, Judah thinks that if he doesn’t get game time soon, then it’s sending a pretty clear message that the club won’t look to make the deal permanent:

“It wouldn’t surprise me if [Morgan] Gibbs-White plays on Saturday, but if he does, and you don’t see Vitinha, there’s no way they’re signing Vitinha, surely. How can they sign Vitinha when every other option avenue is open and they’re still not playing him? Whether it’s Neves, Moutinho injured, or Neto out and he’s still not getting a look-in, there’s no way they’re gonna sign him, surely?”

Has Vitinha been a good signing for Wolves?

TIF Thoughts on Nathan Judah’s comments about Vitinha’s future at the club…

Judah is certainly right to frame his future this way, because if not now, then when is he going to get a chance? Wolves need to start looking ahead to next season and what their team is set to look like, and they clearly have a desire to make Vitinha part of the future by the fact they agreed an option to make the loan permanent.

But it just seems like something of a wasted endeavour to have not played him much up to this point when they could potentially have a real difference-maker in the team just ready and waiting to go but he hasn’t had much of a chance to prove it.

And with Wolves now left with pretty much nothing to play for, now seems as good a time as any to see what he can bring to the table.
