Wolves could be set for an exciting summer transfer window with the cogs of future transfer deals firmly spinning.

That is the view taken by Steve Bull, who made 561 appearances for Wolves, as he delivered his verdict on the role of prominent football agent Jorge Mendes.

Ruben Neves, Rui Patricio, Joao Moutinho and Diogo Jota are just some of the notable talents who have made a Molineux switch that was facilitated through the Portuguese agent, whose clientele also boasts the likes of Ruben Dias and James Rodriguez.

Dubbed a ‘super-agent’ through his links to some of the biggest talents in world football, it is fair to say that the club’s close ties to Mendes have shaped Wolves’ recruitment plans.

With a Premier League clientele dominated by Portuguese or Portuguese-speaking clients, even Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a Wolves switch through his links with Mendes.

Steve Bull consequentially believes the influence of Mendes could be instrumental in shaping Wolves’ future – an advantage that other clubs should not feel envious of.

“There’s no need for other clubs to be jealous and we’ve said this before, but why be jealous? If the club’s got money then spend it wisely which is what [the owners are] doing”, said Bull as he spoke to the Transfer Tavern.

“I think Mendes will have a few more players in the pipeline for Wolves over the next few years, don’t worry about that.”

Regardless of whether Mendes plays an integral role in future Wolves transfers or not, it seems Mendes has a lucrative relationship with the club.

Wolves posted the eighth-highest amount of fees paid to agents of all FA-affiliated clubs in an indication that Wolves are willing to splash out on securing top talent.

As costly as that may be, it is a re-assurance for fans that the club will stop at nothing to spur on-field success onwards.
