Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to a post on the club’s official Twitter account after a picture of Serge Aurier and Steven Bergwijn in training was uploaded.

It’s been a tough campaign for Spurs, with their Carabao Cup final defeat at the hands of Manchester City last time out ending their hopes of winning any silverware this season.

Their poor league form and position led to the dismissal of Jose Mourinho and has left the capital club staring at a second consecutive season without Champions League football.

While Aurier has not always convinced from his right-back role during his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Ivory Coast international has put a string of impressive performances in 2020/21, as his 6.97/10 WhoScored rating suggests.

However, things have been significantly tougher for Bergwijn. The 23-year-old has failed to register a single top-flight goal this season, failing to make a league start since a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on February 4.

Despite Aurier’s apparent progress this term, it appears as though the Spurs supporters have lost patience with the pair and are ready to see the back of the duo over the summer.

“They always smile but never deliver on the pitch”

Tottenham have a favourable last five fixtures as they attempt to close the gap to fourth-placed Chelsea, with games against 20th-placed Sheffield United and a struggling Wolves side to come, and Aurier and Bergwijn may be hoping for an opportunity to prove their critics wrong between now and the end of the campaign judging by these comments.
