Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been reacting on Twitter after a post provided an update on the club’s pursuit of Jannik Vestergaard.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly targeting a centre-back ahead of this summer’s transfer window as the Portuguese boss looks to bolster his side’s shaky defence.
Inter’s Milan Skriniar has been sounded out as the first-choice by the Spurs boss, but, according to The Express, a move for Denmark international Vestergaard has been fast-tracked after Newcastle United’s late equaliser over the weekend.
Joe Willock’s 85th-minute strike means Tottenham have dropped an incredible 15 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season, and the Southampton man is seen as a possible solution to the north London outfits issues at the back, although it doesn’t seem as though the fans share Mourinho’s confidence in the 28-year-old.
“And that’s why we will chill mid-table”
“Great stuff, another CB with the turning speed of the titanic”
“The bargain nonsense is why we keep bringing in players who wouldn’t necessarily improve the team.”
“Good player for Southampton but never meant to play on a higher level. Be serious spurs and buy world quality players”
“This is why we’ll never be taken seriously. Decent player though.”
“Another massive downgrade from the levels of Jan and Toby.”
Vestergaard has been enjoying a fabulous season with the south coast club, as his impressive 7.09/10 WhoScored rating shows, and he could be a relatively cheap alternative to Skriniar.
