Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to a stat about Gareth Bale following their victory over Southampton.

Ryan Mason’s side came from behind to claim a crucial three points against the Saints as they continue their push for a Champions League place. The Welshman, valued at £18m on Transfermarkt, scored the equaliser with a neat, curling effort on the hour mark.

The Tottenham Hotspur social media team pointed out that it was his 11th goal involvement in his past 11 games for the club, which is something of a flashback to what he was like in his final season at Spurs before making the move to Real Madrid in 2013.

And there were plenty of Spurs fans who were left slightly angry when they saw the stat, unimpressed by the fact that he was left out of the team for so long under the previous head coach:

“And someone didn’t start him”

“This is why Jose had to be sacked.”
“Was a crime Jose leaving him out. Glad he’s gone.”
“Free from Jose’s prison”

“One bad game against Arsenal then dropped after a great run of form. Has to be starting every game from now on”

“Imagine if he was allowed to have had 30 starts!”

Do you think Spurs should try and sign Bale permanently this summer?

It’s just a shame he wasn’t played more often earlier in the season, otherwise Spurs might be higher in the table, and Jose Mourinho might still be in a job.
