The 23-year-old joined the Bundesliga outfit back in 2019 after choosing to depart his boyhood club Paris Saint-Germain in search of regular first-team minutes.
During his time at the Red Bull Arena, Nkunku has gone from strength to strength, scoring 12 goals and providing an impressive 24 assists in 76 appearances for Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
His impressive form has seen several of the continent’s top clubs reportedly circulate for the midfielder’s signature, and according to French outlet Foot Mercato, Tottenham are the latest side lining up a move this summer.
The report also states that Spurs may have an upper hand in the deal due to Nkunku being represented by super-agent Pini Zahavi, the man who instrumented Jose Mourinho’s and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s moves to north London.
Tottenham are currently locked in a battle as several sides attempt to secure a place in next season’s Champions League, but it seems as though the potential signing of Nkunku has given the supporters something to smile about.
“You have my attention”
“Yes yes yes yes yes get Nagelsmann too”
“Now we’re talking”
“My boy is excellent, get him NOW”
“Great talent tbh.”
Nkunku still has three-and-a-half years left to run on his existing contract, so if Tottenham wish to prise the £36m rated man away from Leipzig in the upcoming window, then they are going to have to pay a substantial fee.
