Fans of Tottenham Hotspur have been reacting to a post on Twitter after a report emerged linking Maurizio Sarri with the vacant manager’s role.

Jose Mourinho was sacked after just 17 months in charge of Spurs, with a 2-2 draw against Everton last time out, meaning the north London outfit have won just one of their last six games in all competitions.

Ryan Mason has now been placed in temporary control of Tottenham until the end of the season and will lead them into Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, while several big names have been put in the frame to succeed the Portuguese boss on a permanent basis.

One of the names rumoured to be of interest to Daniel Levy is ex-Chelsea and Juventus manager Sarri. The 62-year-old spent one campaign at Stamford Bridge, winning the 2019 Europa League crown, before heading back to his homeland.

According to outlet Football Italia, Spurs have already made contact with Sarri’s agent, Fali Ramadani, who is said to have welcomed the approach. However, it seems as though the capital club’s supporters are less keen on the proposed appointment:

“Because this would be a shocking appointment”

@lilywhitecoys

“We need to just stop appointing ex Chelsea managers”

@jahn___

“This would be an awful appointment, Sarri is exactly like Mourinho, tempered and strict. We need someone youthful, energetic, passionate and good with the players on every level”

@Jordan_Neale

“No no no what is wrong this club”

@marcb3381

“They best not have! Else Levy will be getting ran out the club when fans return!”

@Tigers27

“They hated him at Chelsea, crazy if we go for him”

@MunzGary

Sarri would join a high-profile list of managers to have managed at both Chelsea and Tottenham, including Glenn Hoddle, Andre Villas-Boas and Jose Mourinho.
