Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been reacting on Twitter after a report emerged linking the club with a move for Nick Pope.
The 28-year-old has impressed this season, keeping nine clean sheets in 29 Premier League appearances for a struggling Burnley side.
Pope’s encouraging displays saw him start all three of England’s recent World Cup qualification fixtures and have seen him linked with a move away from Turf Moor.
According to the Daily Mail, one of the sides reportedly interested in the 6’5 shot-stopper is Tottenham, who have identified the Charlton Athletic man as their first-choice replacement for Hugo Lloris if he departs this summer.
Current number one Lloris is rumoured to be interested in a return to his native France, leaving the door open for Pope in north London. However, he doesn’t appear to be a popular choice amongst the supporters.
“the sad decline of this club”
“Too expensive and just not good enough!”
“No thanks.”
“That’s horrific, swear it’s back to the 90s.”
“please no”
“Levyed”
Pope still has two-and-a-half years to run on his contract at Burnley, and with a market value of £13.5m (as per Transfermarkt), it could be an expensive deal to pull off for Tottenham.
