Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left furious by a post that the club put out involving former player Pedro Mendes.

This weekend sees Jose Mourinho’s men host Manchester United in a rather pivotal game as Spurs try to keep within touching distance of being able to finish in a Champions League place come the end of the season.

And a game against Manchester United offered the club the chance to interview Mendes about a rather infamous moment in his career, where he had a goal controversially not given at Old Trafford when the ball was clearly over the line, back in days way before goal-line technology was a thing.

However, there were plenty of Spurs fans who were not happy to be reminded of such an incident, as they ripped into the club’s social media page when the club tweeted the interview out:

“Why you doing this to me mate”

“I was at Old Trafford on that famous night right behind the goal. I still can’t believe none of the officials saw it. Total carve up.”
“Why tear up these wounds??”
“That still stings now. So many years later.”
“Still scandalous that goal never stood. The fact that Carroll fell into the back of the net trying to keep it out should have told the officials it was over the line. Embarrassing decision.”
“Cheers for the reminder …”

Let’s just hope the club bringing up this incident isn’t a jinx at something controversial happening this weekend as well.
