Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have been discussing footage involving Oliver Skipp that emerged on social media.
Skipp, who is currently on loan at Championship side Norwich City, featured for the Canaries in the recent league game against Huddersfield Town. He played the full 90 minutes in defensive midfield, picking up an assist in a 7-0 thrashing of the Terriers.
Norwich-oriented Twitter page Canary Cast posted footage of Skipp from the game, which showed the Spurs loanee carrying the ball from his own half into the penalty area, which resulted in a spot-kick for his side.
Will Skipp be an important player for Spurs next season?
This footage drew the attention of many Spurs fans, who made their views clear about the club’s youngster.
What did Spurs fans make of the footage involving Skipp?
“This is what we are missing a player in the middle who drives at the opposition.”
“I keep telling u guys he’s next up”
Skipp had featured for the Tottenham first team last season, playing seven Premier League games and even played a couple of Champions League games.
He also played in the 2018/19 league campaign, when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge at the north London club. This season, he’s been a regular part of Daniel Farke’s Norwich side, making 42 appearances in all competitions.
“Winks could never…“
A lot of these Spurs fans are buzzing about the video involving Skipp and some feel that he offers what the current Tottenham side misses.
Only nine Norwich players have picked up a better rating than Skipp in the current season, which shows how impressive the Englishman has been in the campaign.
His strengths include passing, tackling and concentration and since Spurs’s style to play lends to counter-attacking and playing in deep midfield positions (as per WhoScored), the youngster could suit the demands of Tottenham.
